We accept works of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction (including memoir, profiles, and interviews).
Your submissions should be previously unpublished (posting on a personal blog or website is usually not considered published) and should conform to the following standards:
- Fiction should be under 5,000 words. Shorter works are more likely to be published.
- Non-fiction should be true and under 5,000 words. Again, shorter works are more likely to be published.
If your submission is selected for publication, Stronger at the Broken Places acquires first-time North American rights. After publication, however, all rights revert to the author and may be reprinted as long as appropriate acknowledgement of Stronger at the Broken Places is made.
We will consider simultaneous submissions, but we request that you notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
We cannot at this time provide payment for the publication of your work. If your work is selected for an edited collection, you will receive a free copy of it, and you can purchase additional copies at a reduced rate.
We strongly prefer online submissions. However, if you are unable to submit your work online, please feel free to send a hard copy of your submission, printed on one side only in 12-point font and double spaced to the address below:
Collins Classroom Center, Room 477
1801 Fourth Avenue
Stevens Point, WI 54481
Please include in your package a cover letter that includes your contact information, your connection to the military, and anything else you think we might want to know about you and your work.
